Company/History

Swabian diligence, the will to achieve something and a healthy tenacity: These were the ingredients with which EMIL SCHMID MASCHINENBAU was founded more than 60 years ago.

Today, the company operates together with the companies EST TECHNOLOGIE, SCHMID CLEANTECH, SCHMID MACHINERY and SCHMID E-MOTIVE as the SCHMID GROUP – an association that manufactures the best possible product for its customers.

2022

  • SCHMID E-MOTIVE
    TECHNOLOGIES S.R.L.
    is integrated into the SCHMID GROUP
    and
    Laser Technology Centre Sonnenbühl
    is created.

2021

  • SCHMID CLEANTECH GmbH is born.
    A merger of INDA Wasserstrahltechnik GmbH
    and Albrecht Markert GmbH
    metal cleaning and surface technology.

    Engstingen becomes the joint company headquarters.

  • Integration of former employees of copperING (Wernigerode) into the E-Motive segment at Emil Schmid Maschinenbau.

    Expansion of the "Electromobility" division.

  • 60th anniversary of Emil Schmid Maschinenbau.

  • Construction of the assembly hall "South Hall", excavation 45,000m3, concrete parts 3,500 t and 1,000 t concrete, area: 4,500 m2, 142 m long and 32 m wide.

2004

  • Oversized assembly line for engine assembly is developed and built with a line length of 1.2 km. The truck and trailer drove 84 times to deliver the system.

2001

  • Acquisition of A. Markert Clean-tec GmbH in Engstingen.
  • Commissioning of the first people mover in Pfullingen.

  • New construction of a production hall.

  • Opening of a company restaurant.

  • The workshop moves to the house on Gottlieb-Sauer-Strasse.

  • Founding of E. Schmid mechanical engineering.
  • It all started with a head full of ideas, a lathe and a lot of commitment in just 8 m2 in the parental barn.
